Don't You Love It When...

Don't you love it when a family member takes an enormous amount of time and effort to research the family tree and collate it all in books, spreadsheets and DVDs! I know I do, my cousin -law -has just done that. I am so grateful to her for her passions when it comes to history and families.

On the cover of the first book is a photograph of my paternal grandmother at age 14 with her brother John.  And, I am afraid to say there is no mention of a Liam Neeson in any of our family ties...would have been nice! I will admit I have done a little research to try and find a link there...but to no avail.

I have a large family network in New Zealand which includes 58 first cousins. Yes, 58 cousins..it's huge!Thankfully, none of  my family  were anywhere near the devastating earthquakes in Christchurch.

I have also been making hearts for my sister to hang in her home. They are scented with Attar of Rose which is a very concentrated form of essential rose petal oil. A very gorgeous friend of mine brought me some from  Egypt  a few months ago and I have now put it to good use. The perfume is divine,  soft and  yet very subtle.

Don't you love it when your children still come up to you (no matter what age) and tell you that you are the best Mum in the world? I am so grateful for my warm and very loving family.

My heart goes out to the grieving families in Christchurch, New Zealand.

This is lovely post Pam, full of lovely "heart" warming things. I'm sure you are related to Liam, I mean you do share the same surname so somewhere back in time you are connected. :) Your hearts are beautiful and I'm sure your sister is going to love them.
I'm with you when it comes to having a warm and loving family. They are precious.
Have a beautiful day,
Anne xx

What a lot of work your cousin must have put into that. One of my cousins in Ireland has spent years going back through our family tree and has reached back as far as the 1500's. My childrens' names were chosen as they appeared throughout those centuries', so they feel very special. She has presented yours so beautifully.
Lurving your hearts - wish I could smell them too!

Liam Neeson would be a good cousin, but I think 58 cousins is enough; wow so many! How fascinating to look through your family history.
Lovely crafty hearts, & I can smell that Egyptian rose oil... mmmmm

How good is that to have your family tree collated, Pam. So many cousins...you'd be forgiven thinking Liam might be one of them! xx

How wonderful to have a book all about your family history! I would love it if one of my relatives did that. Cute hearts too Pam. ;-)

My sister has made a similar cd, with the most beautiful background music, it makes me cry everytime I watch it. My Uncle has been researching for decades and has documented everything just recently, what a wonderful thing to do.
I love your hearts Pam, I'm going over to investigate the oil, I'm always on the look out for nice ones.
My heart is breaking for the poor souls in NZ

Pam, those hearts are lovely. That rose oil must be beautiful, and from Eygpt. I love finding resemblances in old family photos. My mother-in-law showed me her book that someone from her side of the family did, and it's fascinating. We had one, but it's at my parents. I wish we had a copy. I should do something about that. Yes, nothing beats the love we get from our children.

Cheers,
Lisa x

That's a great idea for the family treee, what's it like inside? I would like to try and make something similar for my mum, just have no idea how to lay it out in a book!

My hearts with the people of New Zealand.

It is nice to go back in history, especially if it is you very own history!! I wish it was somewhat easy to do some research in Guatemala. I'm afraid they only keep information on the wealthy and important. For us commons, it is more difficult :o) yet not impossible! A few years ago I was trying to investigate on my mother's side, where there are more people, well, alive. On my dad's side is much more difficult. But if I cannot manage to go far for me, maybe I should start it for future generations!, right? Good idea!!
Beautiful hearts too!
