Country, NZ Style

I am sure cars are referred to as 'shes' arent they, just like boats and huge cruising ships? Well, this image looks definately like father and son to me. What do you think?  Loving the colour.

I love seafood and New Zealand has the best 'melt in your mouth' mussels in the world. I did try the mussel fritter (...when in Rome) and it was as good as my dear mum used to make. If you ever get over to NZ and love seafood mussels are a definate must as are scallops and fish! It is all so fresh and in abundance.

Look at this idyllic background!

These photos were taken last week at a country festival at Kaiaua, about 75 Kms south east of Auckland. This small settlement is on a very scenic part of the East Coast on the Firth of Thames   - bays, birds and rolling hills everywhere.

We made a spur of the moment decision to pop over to NZ last week to see my Dad who had a bit of a 'turn.' Pleased to report that he was in great form when we arrived. We stayed in Auckland with him for a few days and the we hired a 4WD and travelled up to the Northland region in the North Island. We got off the beaten track a bit and I have some interesting posts coming up in the next few days.

Of course the New Zealanders (affectionately known as Kiwis) are still in shock from the devastation of the recent earthquake in Christchurch. The repercussions will be huge in life and business. The media is certainly covering many human issues that are coming out of this - things you would never think of. Many families are still without water and power. Anyway, there were fundraising opportunities wherever we turned, so we were able to contribute and hopefully make some sort of difference.

Just like Australia,  little old New Zealand is still open for business. There are many beautiful places to visit that have not been severely affected by flooding, cyclones or earthquakes.

Those two cars are gorgeous and like you, I love the colour. Those horses are gentle giants aren't they. I love the fluffly legs. Glad to hear everything is o.k. with your Dad.

Glad your Dad is okay. Always a worry when they're so far away ... but that's a relief to think you can jump on a plane and be there in a jiffy.

And good timing too, in the sense you could contribute directly to some of the fundraising efforts.

Glad you're back, Miss Pam.
