My First Quilt...

I have decided to just do it
make a quilt
never made one before...

...a very simple one with huge squares
and hugely floral...

...1950's fabrics, new fabrics, discontinued Laura Ashley, Charles Parsons, Lakehouse, Windham, vintage decorator samples, vintage serviettes and curtains
making do and using what I already have...

...at the 'piecing' together stage now
what looks best next to each other....crikey...spread out the dark print...

...pure randomness!

...is there anyone in this bloggy world who has not made a quilt?

for those of you that have, please bear with me as I meekly venture into your world.
Pam

Yay! Brilliant! It looks beautiful.

Are you having fun with it?

Just you wait, one it's done you'll be completely in love with it and you'll start planning the next one.

I think yours will look spectacular.

Good one, Pam!

I believe I made my first one, stitched and quilted completely by hand, in 1990. It too was simple squares. I made quite a few like that, as I was learning, squares were easy, and I could use scraps. My quilts are some of my most precious possessions aside from photographs. Cherish your first quilt.

Ah! be still my beating heart - sigh! Those florals are woderous!
Cant wait to see the end result sometime.
I hand pieced a coupe of baby quilts in the 90's as my first ever. The next one was one for my bed that is still waiting for the bound edges. better get to it or it will take me another two years to do that!!
Had a go with a jelly roll and calico.
Yours however makes mine look like it comes from Kmart!!!!

Oh PAM! I am in total awe of you!!!! How GORGEOUS is that quilt going to be?!!!!! I love the fabric you are using and I love that you are using up what you have in your stash (I thought I had a big stash!) and that the material is an eclectic mixture of florals! I am sorry, but I may be the only person to have never given a quilt a go.... I'll see how you go and then I might get brave enough! I think you'll whip it up in no time because you can already see how pretty it will be! X

Your quilt is gorgeous! I think the fabric on the bottom of your close up was my living room drapes many years ago. I have not as yet made a quilt although my husband has done a couple. He wants to know what size your squares are.

Just lovely.
