Surrounded on the Bay

The shoes were off this weekend and it was time to play.

The first free weekend we have had for a long time. We decided to spend the night out on the bay with Diann who is visiting us for  a few weeks.

We sailed over to Peel Island. This was the place to be... and everyone else had the same idea!  We didn't realise it was the first weekend of the September holidays..aaaaargh!!!!!..... There were boats everywhere!

We were surrounded by the new...

...and the old...

...and the fast and very sleek!

So calm just before dusk last night.

My sister Diann takes the time to relax and take in the day...

and catch up on some sisterly stuff with me!

Hot but gorgeous weather in Brisbane this weekend with more to follow...as the weather man says!
Hoping you all had a good one too!

What a gorgeous last photo! I love it!

It was hot this weekend. I relished it, to be honest.

I bet there were cool breezes on the Bay, though. And aren't the weekends priceless when you're not home during the week?!

That's the life! The weather has certainly turned itself on for the school holidays, and I'm loving it!
What a great place to be to just shoot the breeze with your sister, enjoy the serenity and NO distractions. x

Hi Pam

Sailing is my idea of the perfect day out. I dream of having sailing lessons then sail around the Helford River in Cornwall...
Lovely photos!

A day on the water - nature's best remedy for everything!

Best Wishes,

One truly gets away from it all on a boat (I miss our boating days) - once you untie and sail from the dock, it seems all worries are parked. Wonderful image of you and your sister.
Thank you for sharing and the image of tranquil waters is awesome

Hi Pam! You look like you are having a wonderful time. What a beautiful day to be out on the water! I grew up in California about five miles from the ocean and I really miss it now that I am living in Georgia.

The beach is only about an hour away now, but it is not as easy to just hop in the car and drive down for an evening walk. The little island is so green and pretty. We have lots of small islands off the coast of Georgia too, and they are forested with pine trees, palmettos and large live oaks, dripping with spanish moss.

Most of the larger ones have bridges that you can drive across. It looks very different though because the bays and waterways are all over grown with sweet grass. That is why they say Georgia has such nice shrimp, because they feed on the sweet grass. It is beautiful to see the sunrise over the water and watch as the shrimping boats leave the docks.

Some local craftswomen, take this sweet grass and dry it, weaving it into beautiful baskets. Its so nice to hear that you are having such a good visit with your sister. I bet she loves the new guest room! Delisa :)
P.S. There is a catalog called "Blair" that I came across the other day that has a comforter and pillow sham set with the cabbage roses on the light blue background. It made me think of you and I thought I would pass along the website in case you might like to see it: http://www.blair.com/home.

Hello,
I visited your blog today - I saw you on 'The Girl and the Bird.' Your photos are so pretty, colorful, and full of life!! Your pink rose on your HEADER caught my eye. I really liked the vintage wall decor, and the red rose made my heart sing. If you go to our blog, you will see why. Me and my daughters just started a new blog, and we would love it if you could visit us and follow. I would enjoy coming back to visit with you. You really capture so much beauty in your photos. Hope to hear from you, and have a sweet day.
