If you haven't popped over to Deb's blog and read her hilarious 'Broken item of the week' posts you really must. I love her Canadian sense of humour and a giggle is always good for the soul right? Well.... I had to follow Deb's lead (of course) when two broken items 'appeared' in my kitchen.
My darling daughter fessed up immediately.
'Mum, I just opened the cupboard and they fell out!'
Hmmm...I don't remember my cupboards bursting at the seams.
Anyway...not being the end of the world and two CK mugs later...
The floral mug was still salvageable and because of my basic frugal nature and love of florals I just had to re-purpose...well try anyway. There was already a drainage hole on the side of it now which I lined with muslin and hey presto...
Turned it around so that the rather large drainage hole was not to be seen...ever!
So there you go...I never thought I would be potting a succulent into a broken CK mug!
Better go and check those cupboards though.

Oh dear, typical it would be such a gorgeous mug to smash, but then I am sure all your mugs are pretty! Good save using it for a succulent :)

Why is it never the crappy old mugs that break? You have made good use of this though. Very cute!
Great that it was able to be reused. My daughter breaking one of my vintage porcelain tea-cups was the inspiration for my collection of mis-matched cups and saucers. I quite like them now and they're much cheaper to buy when they're not sets.
As the saying goes, "When life gives you lemons..." You did the right thing. I might be looking for a few mugs to smash myself!

Hurray for a happy ending! That is NOT a MUG to be thrown away EVEN if it had to be made into a mosaic!!! Oh What a beautiful pot for the succulent!

Hi Pam, we (meaning Carl) have broken so many CK mugs, they seem to topple over so easily. I have a few scattered in my garden :)

Oh oh ooops! Not the Cath Kidstons?? Love the fact you could repurpose that lovely mug and it is funny how things like cups jumping out of cupboards always happen when we are not around isn't it? hehe
