Travelling North

Currently on a road trip north for some much needed R & R.
Here are some pics I snapped on the way.

A cute little unused cottage shop front at Gayndah.

The winter grasses lend themselves to an almost velvet like carpet to a very dry landscape.

Plenty of windmills and very long roads.

Have seen a few of these rusty and unused petrol bowsers on the footpaths.
Adding to the rustic charm of the country.

You just have to see this in Gayndah. A brass flying fox adorns this huge country drapery store, and what is more it is still in use today. Money is rolling back and forth from the counters to the accounts lady who has her own little wooden enclosure in the store.
I love checking out these country drapery stores, in fact I make a point of it when we arrive in a new town. They are fascinating and usually still have the original shop fittings and the service is very friendly.

Actually I think this flying fox is the only one in use in Australia, not only in Queensland.

Don't you love the Christmas hat? I tell you they sell all sorts of amazing stuff!

Cania dam at the Cania Gorge

 Galahs

Cotton plantation just out from Biloela.
I have never eseen one of these before and the field reminded me of something from Gone with the Wind..'.frankly my dear' and all that.

Mount Morgan 6 bedroom home and it is up for sale! Used to be a pub and it could easily be converted.

Heading further north, about 350kms to even more tropical Cairns today
We are slowly making our way up to Cape York. Right to the tip of Aus on the East coast
The weather is getting warmer and warmer.
