Looking for the Perfect Shade of Blue

Photos from here

I am on a mission to find the perfect shade of blue for a pair of vintage lampbases. I am so used to painting items for my home white, that I am having trouble deciding what shade of blue to choose. I feel I need to inject more colour around me and painting the lampbases will be perfect. I think I am leaning towards a French blue to make a statement but I was just wondering...

How do you choose the right shade of colours?
Paint and then change if it is not right?

I like your new look! I'm hopeless at choosing colour. Duck egg blue always seems to be a safe choice..? But I like a vibrant blue like in Bitossi ceramics - they made the most stunning lamp bases. Gook luck in finding the right blue.

Thanks Anita, Having found a new template design tab I have been having fun - just like searching for the 'right' blue I am still searching for the just right blog template. I agree duck egg blue is gorgeous and as for the vibrant blue I love it too...long weekend great time for heaps of reno type work around the house huh? Have a great weekend. How's the bookcase coming along by the way?

I love blue and white...and a perfect choice for you by the bay. I always think a paler blue wall colour is best, you know just a hint, so it ages well and dosn't tire you out, cheers Katherine

Hi, thanks for visiting me and my shop! I hesitate for ages before painting with a new colour, especially for big areas like walls. At least for lamp bases they're not too big, so if it doesn't come out right you can try again!

sounds about right! French blue nearly always does it for me though. Lovely to see you stop by my blog and thanks for the generous comments! Michelle

I say go for it ..get a couple of paint sample pots and paint each colour on a large piece of board.. if unsure...leave them in the room for a few days and see which you like best...blue can change so much from sample card to the look on your wall. I agree with Katherine you can become fed up with darker colours..whatever you decide I'm sure it will be fab. Love the blog Kym X

dear Pam...thanks for leaving a comment on my blog..
jee wiz...your blog is a lot more professional than mine!!

I am soo glad you popped by as I shall place you on my little sidebar to keep checking up on what you are up to..

I LOVE that FRENCH BLUE...is it duck egg?? or kind of a mix with wedgewood blue...
BLUE is kind of a hard colour to fathom....

BUT my philosophy is pick a colour you think...in a sample pot..paint it...& if it aint right...try again!!

OR take a swatch/sample etc of the colour you really like & get the paint shop to match it..

EVENTUALLY you will get the right colour..!!!

Gorgeous blues! I think it is really hard to find exactly the right color, I guess paint chips? Or trial and error! Either way, it's kind of a fun process, don't you think?
