Meet Ted from the Patch...

Poor Ted! I didn't realise he was at the back of the cupboard with only one eye! I do feel a bit bad about that.

I found poor Ted today as I was doing a spring clean in summer! I made Ted when my son was a young baby, probably about 9 months old - he is now 21. As he was an amazing sleeper during the day (and night), I sewed, cross-stitched, and completed tapestries.

I attended classes and learnt how to do heirloom crazy patchwork and to make a jointed teddy bear.

Here is Ted bit by bit...

He has a bit of a tight lipped look about him as though he is cross! Do you think...? I am sure he moved in this photo!

I can't believe I embroidered on the carnation to highlight the colours. Gee, my boy must have been a great sleeper!

Notice the vintage cameo? My grandfather bought it back from Croatia in the very early 60's for my mother. Ted is covered in lace from my Mums wedding dress, buttons from my Dad's old pyjamas, beads from my Nanna, all sorts really.

Then I got the urge and made some crazy patchwork hearts today with a little embroidery.

Then I made even more, so I have now put them in my ETSY store!

Poor Ted! I will have to find an eye for him and fix him up. He is going on the top shelf from now on.

He is a darling little creation, Pam. And so are the cute hearts! It seems I had more time for projects when my children were young...maybe I just had more energy or organizational skills!

Have a great day!

XO,
Jane

How wonderful is Teddy with all his special memories? I think he deserves another eye a-n-d to sit somewhere like a King. He does look a bit cross like he was been squeezed a bit too much. Sort of 'we are not amused' look really...

Oh my! We are kindred spirits. I also do crazy quilt stitching. Have loved it for years. That's what all the beads were for. And I've had it in my head for weeks to make some hearts for Valentine's Day! Your Ted is beautiful, and still looks brand new.

Ted is priceless! Such a special bear. So much work has gone into creating him. You've done a fabulous job! Thanks for showing him to us Pam.

You're part of the Croatian gene pool? So is my hubby. He's Croatian. Well most of him is. A little bit of Russian thrown in for good measure. I would love to visit Croatia one day...

Those hearts are adorable too!

Hi Pam, isn't it funny getting out something like your ted & revisiting a time in your life in full colour & meaning & thinking ooh I did this!..wonderful. What a delightful way to patchwork the keepsakes together rather than just a quilt. Lovely! Much love Catherine x

Every inch of that bear is beautiful ... you know I didn't even notice he had one eye! I think he's delightful ... no wonder he has pursed lips ... locked in the cupboard for so long!

Pam, you have a wonderful talent!
