Natural and Handmade

A glorious misty morning  blogging from Mareeba this morning...

...from our little cabin at the Granite Gorge.

Just wanted to share the moments I have snatched for making stuff on our travels. Testing out these shower cloths that I made from organic cotton.
They are brilliant.
They dry quickly, soft on your skin.
Hubby even loves them!
Perfect with the last of my lavender handmade soap!

Something I don't usually do is advertise products on my blog, but I just have to share my positive shampoo experiences.
For many years I have always bought expensive shampoos and conditioners for my hair. Not necessary now as I have found an organic alternative and it is made in Australia. Being a bit sceptical at first I was impressed when the hairdresser asked me which shampoo I had been using as my hair had no residue in it and was really clean. First time ever!
I just told her I was using an organic shampoo and I didn't have the heart to tell her it was under $5 per bottle!
Even the container is made from corn husks! The product contains no nasties and I am very happy with it. It is always on the bottom shelf at the supermarket.
Yes...you can buy it at the supermarket.

Travelling around I always take some sort of floral. Yep! I take real china and even though we have travelled over 5,500 kms on corrugated and extremely rough gravel roads on this trip, my Cath Kidston mugs are still in tact.

I stuff them with wool that I am supposed to be crocheting with and then they are nestled in a drawstring bag surrounded with other soft balls of wall.
Honestly, it has been far too hot up here for too much crocheting business.

However, in the interests of my new pink mobile phone, some sort of soft case was inevitable. This is perfect and was quick to make. It is a firm fit and protects it from being thrown around in my bag.

Happy days.

Sounds like you are having the most marvelous time. Thank you for the shampoo share, I am always on the lookout for nice organic shampoos, especially without sls, so I will be sure to check these out. I know I have seen them up at Coles so they'll be on next week's shopping list.
Safe travels!

Hi Pam, Mareeba looks positively gorgeous and your cabin at Granite Gorgeous just perfect.
I love that you take China cups with you when travelling, lovely soap and handmade wash cloths. All those little things make travelling that little bit more enjoyable.
Thanks for sharing the info on the shampoo you use. I'll be in need of shampoo soon so will give it a try.
I love your mobile phone holder, so wonderful to make something yourself and use it.
Just loving your holiday blog. Thank you so much for taking the time.

Sounds like a lovely trip. That shampoo sounds fabulous but I know we can't find it here. I take crochet with me wherever we go, too. Always nice to whip something up while travelling and waiting. Best wishes, Tammy

Snap! That's the shampoo I use. It has been the only shampoo that doesn't give me terrible dermatitis and my hair is always healthy looking! And yes, get on instagram. xx
